Organising kids for school
School organisation station: Secondary.
Be organised for school in four easy steps.
Creating an Organised "School Station" with elfa freestanding is easy. The unit shown above is designed for a secondary school child and can easily be reconfigured for primary by lowering the desk. The unit can also become double sided by adding extra feet and components to the reverse side. No elfa freestanding components are attached to the wall.
Step 1: Unpack
Kids hang their school jackets and hats on hangers and hooks to keep them wrinkle free ready for the next day.
Dirty laundry such as uniform and sports clothes are placed in the laundry cart.
Shoes go into the shoe drawer - which means they are out of the way but easily found.
School bags, umbrellas and sporting equipment are hung using the hooks or put in the sports drawer ready for action.
Step 2: Sort
Any homework goes into the divided shelf. For younger kids this space is great for storing artwork and projects.
School notes, tips and reminders go onto the notice board for all of the family to see.
Lunch boxes and drink bottles come out of the bag ready to be taken into the kitchen.
In the Bigso Boxes go any artwork, certificates, media and craft supplies. They are protected and stored in their own special spot.
Step 3: Homework
The built in desktop is an ideal space for completing homework and can be adjusted to correct height.
Stationery supplies are all at hand, stored in drawers or Bigso Boxes.
Timetables, achievement certificates and more can be displayed on the magnetic board.
The desktop is also used for recharging phones, ipods and laptops.
Step 4: Prepare
Pack finished homework along with any signed notes to go back to school, ready for the next day.
Allocate a different coloured bag for each activity so kids can just pick up the relevant bag full of everything they need. For example a red bag for football, a blue bag for swimming, a pink bag for dance.
The secret to making this system work is to keep it free from non school related clutter and just keep it focused on school.
